Water Fountain Pumps
Water fountain pumps are one of the most important elements of any water fountain. If there is no pump you can’t push the water from top into the fountain cascade and whole point of the fountain is lost.
In water fountains most of the times the pump is a submersible one, which can push the water easily on top. Because of it’s submersible nature most fountain pumps are invisible from outside and at the same time do not make a lot of noise.
Fountain pumps come is variety of powers depending upon the size of the fountain. There are certain specifications that decide the power of the pump you want to use.
1) GPH – This value is called as “Gallons Per Hour”. This is the amount of water the pump can push in one hour. Ideally speaking most standard indoor fountain require 50-100 GPH pumps to function properly and for the visual beauty. If less water flows through the fountain, its visual beauty is lost so a pump with enough power is recommended
2) Max Head – This is a unit of height that us used to measure the power of the fountain pump. It is height above the pump up to which the water can be pushed. So a pump with Max Head 3 can push the water up to 3 feet above it’s base. Again it is necessary to first measure the highest point of the water outlet and then decide the “Max Head” value of the pump.
Ideally speaking the Max head value should never be more than the height of the fountain top because the flow of water becomes less strong on top and can throw less water into the cascade.
In modern designs most water fountain pumps can also be run using s solar panel, which converts sunlight into electricity for the pump to run. A standard water fountain comes equipped with a submersible pump and an AC adapter for indoor usage.
If you are looking for a new or replacement water fountain pumps than make sure you look for the right kind of specifications suited best for your particular requirements.
